JADE HISTORY

JADE, Junior Apparel Designer Education Program, a highly effective fashion arts enrichment and training program for inner-city junior high and high school students provides apparel design and sewing training on alterations, fashion design, basic sewing, pattern lay-out, garments alterations, dressmaking curriculum with additional resources on how to start a home base sewing and or fashion business and how to use basic sewing skills for future career employment.

 

Since it's inception,The Jade program, is the first and original program introducing students to fashion and sustainability ,since  June 2004. Our program has a proven track record of successful partnerships with community base organizations, schools and non-profits in the Philadelphia and Tri- region.

 

JADE, Junior designer education program for young designers focusing on garment design industry skills using sustainable and green resources to advance the fashion industry imprint on our environment.

 

Jade programs works collectively with community agencies and educational institutions to educate and engage youth,particulary in the inner city on fashion construction and sustainability.

 

The program has educated hundreds of students through it's Fashion Team Green mobile program.

 

Jade Program invites youths to participate in decision making activities that involves youth on a weekly basis thru a series of meetings and recruitment within the program and other youth events. Collaborating with existing after-school middle and high school students offers students the opportunities to cross collaborate on special projects and assignments. Instruction curriculum is developed and aligned with state levels Occupational Home Economics education in family and consumer sciences
